Just so you know...

There is absolutely no rhyme or reason to my, er I mean "our' blog. When the mood hits me I write about something. I don't mean to offend anyone... certainly not my goal. I just want people to learn about us and get to know us better. We like comments, so feel free to post some!

Neglected

Oh this poor blog has become so neglected! I've actually been staying somewhat busy lately. Miss K is out of preschool and I'm out for the summer... or it could be longer than that :) Anyhow, there for a little bit I couldn't tell if we were coming or going! K had ballet, soccer, and now t-ball.

Soccer!

Ballet and soccer are both over, so we are concentrating on t-ball. She's really enjoying it! I'm so thankful she is, because I think it would've broken my heart had she not liked it!
First t-ball game: On first!

I've been busy making hair bows. I'm not really sure what for yet, but I've been having fun with it!

We went fishing last weekend. Miss K got the first catch of the day, and Nick came in second. They both caught little perch. I caught nothing but a bunch of weeds and a sunburn in a little patch, where I apparently missed with sunscreen. Lesson learned: Next time ask the husband to get my back! I guess I'm not near as flexible as I used to be!

Update In the Adoption World

Well, I realize I haven't mentioned adoption in quite some time. There really hasn't been anything worth mentioning. All of our clearances and whatnot are updated and we had our home visit for the home study update as well.

We have less traffic (compared to last year at this time) to our website. Less traffic as in no traffic, so that is somewhat disheartening. We have had a few (4) contacts this year. So far those contacts haven't amounted to "the one," but at least I"m getting plenty of practice.

We recently decided to do some additional advertising. Whether that helps or not, I guess we will find out, but at least it makes it feel that we are doing "something."

Here's to more waiting!!

It's A Perfect Day

Miss K just said to me "It's a perfect day for flying a kite!"

Indeed it is. It's beautiful out, but it's WINDY!

I Live

for this!

These moments are rare, but today my poor girl was exhausted and she wanted her Momma. And her Momma wanted and needed her. I'm pretty sure she is the reason I wake up every morning.

Busy Little Bee

Miss K has been asking me for months to make her a Hello Kitty hair bow. I took a break from the hair bow making, but today I decided I would make a beautiful bow for her. Then, I thought "Well, I should probably go ahead and make a few more since I have everything out." I forgot how much I actually enjoy making them!

Child

"Child"
Author Unknown

A tiny life is growing
Inside a cozy place
His arms and legs are flailing
A smile is on his face.
His mother feels a tiny kick
Upon her rounded tummy
And waits impatiently for the day
When she becomes a Mummy.
The baby’s smile is fading
But his eyes are open wide
He knows that he’ll be leaving soon
But will never see outside.
There aren’t so many kicks now
In fact there’s none at all
Gran says that baby’s sleeping
And keeps knitting up his shawl.
His life is draining quickly
But no-one knows a thing
A tiny smile fleets his face
When he hears his Mother sing.
He knows that he’ll remember her
And the things he heard her say
Peacefully and happily
The baby drifts away.
Mummy knows that something’s wrong
And is at the clinic before too long
A scan is done and Doctor says
“I’m sorry, baby’s gone”.
The grief is overwhelming
The sadness takes its toll
Friends and family gather round
As he’s buried in his shawl.
As time goes by and lapses on
His Mother sheds a tear
And hears these words inside her head
“Mum I’m always here,
I’ll never ever leave you
Although you may not know
I’ll be beside you every day
Through laughter, joy and woe.
You’ll never need to miss me
For I am in your heart
And though we’re in two different worlds
We’ll never be apart”.

LMHL

What does that stand for!? Last Minute Hospital List... If you think about it just a little you might be able to figure it out but I'll go ahead and explain. :)  This is a last minute situation, an expecting mother did not make an adoption plan, but while in labor or soon after delivery decided she would like to place her baby for adoption. These cases are not all that common with our agency. Being on the list would mean that if there was a situation within a 4 hour radius of us, we would be called and would have to make a decision within 30 minutes on whether or not to proceed. A waiting family can potentially have a baby within 4 hours! How exciting is that!

Our agency offers clients that have been "waiting" for a year to go on this "list." Nick and I have been waiting a little over a year and we have been offered to go on the LMHL. So what does this mean for us? Absolutely nothing! We have opted not to go on the list. This whole year we always said that we wouldn't go on the list. We never expected to have the opportunity to go on the list (we thought we would adopt before our year mark). The waiting downright stinks, it's such an emotional roller coaster, and in all honesty I'm at one of my lowest points with "dealing" with waiting. As much as having a baby in an instant appeals to us, we couldn't do it. Nick and I are not impulse people. We like to think things thoroughly, over analyze, and discuss beyond measure. I've always thought those were wonderful traits, but now I'm not so sure.

I've said this the last 2 years, but I guess maybe the 3rd time's a charm: This year is going to be "our" year!
